In 2014 the Causeway Coast and Glens Heritage Trust delivered a very successful geology themed teacher training course along with the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland, Foyle College and the Magilligan Field Centre.

Through Drifting Apart CCGHT can now offer this course again and will deliver it in during Autumn / Winter 2016!
The course is open to twelve student, primary and post-primary teachers and will take place during November with four Monday evening classroom sessions at Magilligan Field Centre, followed by a weekend site visit in January (to be decided by participants and facilitators). The course has been created to reflect primary and post primary curricula and teaching practice. This is a great opportunity for teachers to receive additional training at no cost to their school.
The course is part of a wider project (Drifting Apart – www.driftingapart.eu) which will see four different courses, seventeen geology sessions in total, held throughout the Causeway Coast and Glens region targeting different sectors i.e. activity providers, accommodation providers, teachers and community groups.
Similar courses and events will be held throughout the Drifting Apart partnership area, specifically over the next twelve months at Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.
CCGHT is inviting anyone interested in attending our Teaching the Teachers course to come along on the 10th of October 2016 7pm to Huston’s Mill, Broughshane. We will provide an introduction to the basic geology of Northern Ireland and further information about the various courses on offer. Prospective participants will be provided with a short application form during this event. This application form can also be requested via email.
