In just under one month representatives from all seven partner organisations will meet in Saga Geopark Project, West Iceland. The Saga Geopark Project was established in 2013 as a community led initiative and hopes to apply for Geopark status in late 2015.

This will be a great chance to discuss progress, specifically the development of the geological story line which connects the project area together which Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have coordinated, and look towards up coming projects such as the development of geotourism and geoeducation resources which will be led by Scottish Partners.

West Iceland is a great place to see present day Earth Processes, with the North American and Eurasian Plates ripping apart, albeit at the slow rate of one inch per year. Similar Earth Processes have worked to shape the wider project area and will be explored through the European Union ERDF funded project.
